The statistics below provide an overview of the Board’s Findings and Recommendations (F&R) as well as the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS) responses to those F&Rs over the last five years.

Board's Findings and Recommendations
Between 2008 and 2012, the Board issued F&Rs on 513 grievances of which 47.8% (245 cases) had recommendations to grant or partially grant the grievance (i.e. supported the position of the grievor). In the remaining 51.7% (265 cases), the Board recommended to deny the grievance.
The following graphic sets out the distribution in percentage of the Board's recommendations by year.

Chief of the Defence Staff Decisions
Of the 513 F&Rs issued by the Board, the CDS rendered 401 decisions. Of these, 177 decisions addressed cases where the Board had recommended that redress be granted or partially granted. The remaining 224 decisions addressed cases where the Board had recommended that redress be denied.
The following graphic illustrates the distribution of the CDS decisions in percentage on each of these two categories.
